Book Review - Magic School Bus, The Giant Germ

The title of my book is Book #6 Magic School Bus, The Giant Germ. The publisher is Joanna Cole. The book was written in 2000. That's when I was born! There are 76 pages in this book. The book is about Ms. Frizzle's class seeing a hundred germs in a sandwich, a trash can, a fly and inside Jimmy. The book is part non-fiction and part fiction. The books tells you a lot about germs.

The book is about Ms. Frizzle and her class seeing a lot of germs. They are fungi, protozoa and viruses. Spores help grow mold. Spores is what give mold color. Spores get carried around with the wind. Spores can be black, blue-green or pink. In this book, the mold is blue-green.

I think the book is great. The book tells me a lot about germs. I even wrote some facts about germs in here. I think some parents want kids to read Magic School Bus books because the kids will learn a lot. I got this set from my book order from school. I can't wait to get all the other books.

Most of the kids should read Magic School Bus because the books tell them a lot about real world stuffs. In the chapter books, there are little boxes that tell you about interest stuffs. Most of the other books are ones I don't have. I'll probably borrow some at the library. If the library doesn't have it, then I'll look in the media center at my school. If the media center doesn't have it, then I don't know what to do.

Book Review - Secrete of Droon, Journey to the Volcano Palace

The title of my book is "Secrets of Droon, Journey to the Volcano Palace". It is one of the book in Secret of Droon series. The publisher is Tony Abott. This book was written in 1999. There are 85 pages in this book. The book is a fiction book. And it is a chapter book. The book is about Eric, Julie, Neal and Keeah going to Sparr's home.

The book is about Eric, Julie and Neal going to Droon. Eric, Julie and Neal are helping Keeah fighting Sparr. They go down the rainbow stairs to get to Droon. They never start in the same place. In this book they are going to Sparr's home in a volcano. The place is called Kano.

I think the book is great and most kids should read it because it is very interesting. I think the book is for both boys and girls. Girls will probably not like the book at the beginning, but then they will like it. The middle of the story is great. First the book starts out boring most of the time. Then it gets better.

The book might have your favorite part. The book makes me feel like I'm right in the story. Sometimes I don't even hear people when I was reading. I don't have the whole gaint set of this series. All I need is the special edition five to complete my collection. I read some books more than 20 times. I like these books!

Happy New Year, Julie

Today I read the book called "Happy New Year, Julie". The author who wrote the book is Meagan McDonald. The book is about Julie and her family and Ivy celebrating Chinese New Year. Julie is the girl with blond hair. Ivy is the girl with black hair. They are good friends. Julie has a sister named Tracy, and Tracy is older than Julie.

Megan McDonald's first story was about a pencil sharpener! Megan liked to write when she was ten. She writes the Joody Moody books in California and some other books for children. She remembers growing up in 1970s. Megan grew up in a place with lots of books. Her home is close to San Francisco.

I feel like I'm inside the book when I read it. Also it's like the chapter book is so short. I can just zoom through the book. I feel like I read a baby book. I feel like I live right next to Julie. And like "this is my first thin chapter book". Also like Julie is right inside my head.

As an American born Chinese, I can understand some Chinese words. I will read more about American Girls. I think I'll read about Kit. She is another American Girl character. My mom said she is going to buy another book or box set of those kind of books. Also probably we'll get them at the library. There's a page of all the American Girls books in this book. So I know their names.

Ice Skating

I always go ice skating on Saturdays. Ice skating is when you skate on ice. You use different skates to ice skate. When you are a beginner, ice skating is hard. I am a beginner. It only took two classes and now I'm good at ice skating.

On 1/5/08 was my first class. I was a fast learner. At first I fell a lot of times. I don't know how many times I fell. My teacher told me how to balance and skate. First, put on knee out and bend it. Then put the leg that is behind you in front of you. That's all. And you have to keep doing that. Then we ate lunch. After lunch I practiced skating. I got a lot better. I was a little good at ice skating.

1/12/08 I went to ice skating again. This time I did wiggles and I did diamonds with my feet. I turned my feet and I made Vs. By wiggles I presses on my toes and I stayed in the same spot and I went from side to side. Then I ate lunch. After lunch I practiced again. This time I went much faster.

When you're a beginner, it's not very hard to skate. You can only skate forward though. I still want to learn some tricks. Also I need to learn how to skate backward. And to spin around. Also I want to learn how to not fall.

Today in the morning it was cold. Dad drove me to school. When I got to my class, I unpacked my bookbag. My morning work was easy. I had to finish my party hat for New Year's Day. I never got to finish that. All I did was to draw a big S and squiggly lines. But I didn't finish my hat. Now almost everybody finished, and still not me. After that we met on the red carpet. Ms. Roshn talked about compare and contrast. She said compare is what two or more things have in common. She said contrast is what things don't have in common. Then we did a paper about compare and contrast. Then we got our jackets and went to lunch.

At lunch we were the first ones there. I had a cheese pizza for lunch. We thought we had outdoor recess, but it was indoor. In the classroom I colored some flowers. I didn't finish. I will do my flowers tomorrow morning. I wanted to make a basket too but I didn't do it. After recess Jerry and I went to assessment. A pre-assessment is a test where we do to get a grade. We were finished quick. They were time problems. Not the time on the clock, the different times, multiplication. I got all the answers right. Home work was times and subtraction. In the class, we wrote in our homework and packed up our bookbags. Then we lined up. I went to the walker line in the hall. Next I went to Bar-T. I did my homework there. Then I went to computer lab with my friends. I played on www.disneychannel.com. By the time Mom picked me up, it was dark and cold.

My Favorite Book

My favorite books are "The Secretes of Droon". Tony Abbott is the author of the books. He wrote "Danger Guys" and "The Weird Zone" also. Tony Abbott often dreamed of doors that open to the other worlds. Tony Abbott was born in Ohio and lives with his wife and two daughters in Connecticut. He thinks he has found some of those "lead to other worlds" doors. They are called books.

All the different kinds of books are, 1, The Hidden Stairs and the Magic Carpet, 2, Journey to the Volcano Palace, 3, The Mysterious Island, 4, City in the Clouds, 5, The Great Ice Battle, 6, The sleeping Giant of Goll, 7, Into the Land of the Lost, 8, The Golden Wasp, 9, The Tower of the Elf King, 10, Quest for the Queen, 11, The Hawk Banits of Tarkoom, 12, Under the Serpent of the Sea, 13, The Mask of Maliban, 14, Voyage of the "Jeff a Wind", 15, The Moon Scoll, 16, The Knights of Silver Snow, 17, Dream Thief, 18, Search for the Dragon Ship, 19, The Coiled Viper, 20, In the Ice Caves of Krog and 21, Flight of the Genie. Tony Abbott is still writing more stories. A new book is coming next is called "Princess of Shadow thorn". The princess is named Salamandra. Salamandra is not nice. She's evil. The new book's picture is on one of the old books.

In the books all the kids are always fighting evil power. That means Sparr, Saldmora, Ninns and other meanie people and weird creatures. I like the characters Eric, Julie, Neal and Keeah because they are nice. All of them except Neal have powers. Eric can shoot blue and silver sparks from his fingertips. Julie can fly and change shape. Keeah can do the same things as Eric except the silver sparks. I hate Sparr because he is evil. He has witch power. Witch power is red. That's why I hate Sparr.

I think that both boys and girls could read “The Secrete of Droon". I see most of the girls like fairies and princess stories. But Secrete of Droon has some girls and boys stuff that girls will like too. I don't usually read fairies and princess stuffs. Some of them, I say, is boring. Dad said, "once upon a time, there were a boy and a girl. They lived happily after forever." I said that was boring. And I think Kathy should read it so she can learn how to read as good as me. If Kathy can't read in Kindergarten, I'll teach her to read in first grade. I'll teach her to read chapter books. First, baby chapter book. Next, big kid chapter books.
